Each year, the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section ( BSCES) John R. Freeman Fund sponsors a lecture geared toward students and young professionals interested in careers in water resources engineering.

This year, we were fortunate to host the 2019 Freeman Lecture, with our own Dan Gessler speaking on “The Role of Models in the Design of the Lower Mississippi River Sediment Diversions.”

During the annual event, visitors were treated with a light dinner reception and the opportunity to tour 1:65 scale, live-bed physical models that will help optimize and inform the designs of critical sediment diversion structures. The annual event draws students and professionals from across the region.

This video is just a short recap of the evening.
