He has managed well over 200 such studies throughout the United States and overseas. He has performed conceptual design of and managed field studies and hydraulic model analyses to support detailed design of fish exclusion and passage facilities at hydroelectric projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Chick is the founder of Alden’s Redmond, Washington laboratory (since relocated to Everett, Washington), originally Engineering Hydraulics, Inc. The firm was eventually owned by ENSR and then AECOM until the 2012 Alden acquisition.
