The Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) has named the Poudre River Drop Structure a 2020 H20 Project award recipient.

These awards recognize excellence in the field of construction project management for water related projects. The Poudre River Drop Structure was recognized in the category of Open Flow Concrete Structure under $6 million.

The reviewers for the CCA H2O Award noted the remarkable concrete work for the Project.

Concrete-Placement-Alden performed periodic site visits to inspect key stages of construction

It was not a typical project and even though it is a hydraulic structure, it is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The Project is a great investment for Northern Water in providing a reliable structure as a key part of the Hansen Supply Canal that delivers water from Horsetooth Reservoir.

Alden project manager and lead structural engineer, Mark Graeser, PE states, "this is a great example of Alden’s structural and hydraulic expertise in delivering quality hydraulic structure projects. The award is a testament to the success of the overall team."

Congratulations to all the team participants for their work on this project:

  • Design Team – Alden and Lithos Engineering (Geotechnical Sub-consultant)
  • Client – Northern Water
  • Contractor - Zak Dirt

Design for the Project was completed in July 2019; construction was completed in March 2020.
