New fish protection concepts often require some degree of laboratory testing and development prior to field evaluation. And because we operate one of the largest fish testing facilities in the world, we can configure your technology to meet a wide range of conditions for multiple life stages and species. Our facilities give us the opportunity to design, fabricate and test technologies for biological performance, including mortality, injury, impingement or entrainment reduction, or bypass efficiency. We can also evaluate the operational performance of your design, or conduct special studies related to fish behavior. Over 40 species of fish in egg, larvae, juvenile or adult form have been tested in our facilities.

Whether your study involves fish diversion screens, louvers, bypasses, or pump, we can identify operational characteristics and select the optimum physical and hydraulic conditions for protecting fish. At the completion of our laboratory efforts, your new design or facility will be prepared for field application with a high potential for successful operation.
