Verdantas was contracted by Eramet Marietta, Inc. to conduct Phase I and Phase II property assessments and remediation activities under the Ohio VAP (Voluntary Action Program). 

The VAP portion of the project includes approximately 39 acres of the larger facility in Marietta developed in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s and used for manufacturing of chrome and manganese briquettes.

As part of the overall scope, Verdantas conducted comprehensive Phase II and TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act) assessments and RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) Closure activities, followed by the development of a demolition and waste management specifications.  Verdantas was responsible for directing and the implementation of the waste stream identification and characterization activities, asbestos abatement, removal of universal and residual wastes, the demolition of multiple large above-ground storage tanks historically used in the electrolytic chrome and manganese process, multiple building and structure demolition and material management, and back-filling.
