Verdantas Helps Clients Secure Important Brownfield Funding

Ohio Funds Massive Brownfield Assessment and Cleanup Program

Verdantas is proud to have helped several Ohio communities and private businesses prepare 16 successful grants, requesting over $63 million during Round 1 of funding from the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program. 

Ohio Governor DeWine announced the initial funding awards resulted in the investment of $252 million into 58 of Ohio's 88 counties through the program designed to provide grants for the remediation of brownfield sites across the state. The grants will help to clean up the sites and prepare them for future economic development.

Two successive rounds of grant applications were opened up, and Verdantas helped to prepare seven additional grant applications requesting $17.8 million; these applications are currently under review by the Ohio Department of Development.

Due to overwhelming success, the Ohio Brownfields Remediation Program is now closed, as the state received more funding requests than the nearly $350 million available to distribute in this short-term program established in Ohio’s FY2022-2023 Operating Budget.

Verdantas has demonstrated continued success with brownfield funding programs, having already helped clients secure 75 grants worth over $124 million from previous Ohio programs. We are honored to play a strong role in helping to share program information with potential applicants throughout the state and to work with many communities and private firms to help prepare thorough grant requests. 

We hosted our own informational webinars and participated as guest speakers in webinars hosted by the Ohio Economic Development Association, Ohio Port Authority Association, Ohio Conference of Community Development, and the Central Ohio Chapter of the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association.
