As Practice Group Director, Chris Rutledge leads and facilitates the technical development and collaboration of the diverse and talented professionals across Verdantas. He has always aspired to become as well rounded of an environmental consultant as possible. This position provides him with opportunities to learn new things and solve new problems everyday through working with the amazing technical talent that is Verdantas.
In his more than 25 years of professional experience, Chris has supported a variety of environmental projects throughout the U.S. and internationally. His expertise comes from hands-on natural resource and environmental planning work, from baseline studies and permit preparation to community outreach and public hearing support. Often serving as a strategic advisor to clients, Chris has supported delivery of project designs that minimize potential impacts while creating a long-term asset for clients.
Chris has worked with clients from a number of market sectors over his career, including government, industrial, mining, power and energy, real estate, and transportation among others. In supporting these clients, his experience has included due diligence, greenfield development, baseline natural and physical resource studies, impact assessments, and environmental compliance. He has also consistently expanded his client support to include site assessments, engineering support, facility demolition and decommissioning, reclamation/restoration, remediation, and brownfield redevelopment. Chris’ passion is helping clients solve their challenges, from small to large, and in turn becoming a trusted advisor.
Chris earned his Master of Science in Rangeland Ecosystem Science from Colorado State University and a B.A. in Biology from the University of Colorado. When he's not supporting clients and working with his expanded team, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, watching his daughter’s swim meets and his son’s baseball games with his wife, going for walks with his yellow lab, taking family vacations, going on mountain biking and skiing adventures with friends, playing vintage video games, and collecting and listening to vinyl records.
