About Alden Lab
Founded in 1894, Alden is the oldest continuously operating hydraulic laboratory in North America and one of the oldest in the world
From the early days of hydropower development and aviation, through World Wars I and II, and into the modern world defined by environmental needs, we have become a world-renowned leader in the field of fluid dynamics consulting, research and development.
Our organization is made up of industry-leading engineers, scientists, biologists, and knowledgeable support staff. Much of our work supports the power generating, manufacturing, and process industries, and the list continues to grow into areas like aerospace, defense and bio-pharmaceuticals.
We offer a breadth and scope of specialized services not typically found in one location—conceptual design, detailed design, biological/fisheries studies, analytical modeling, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), field measurements, physical modeling, precision flow meter calibrations, and field testing are all available at Alden.
Decades of combined experience in numerical simulation techniques, physical modeling, and field studies provide the broad knowledge that is essential for recognizing which method is best suited to solving a problem, or identifying situations when a combined approach will result in the most cost-effective solution. Experienced project managers work with you to achieve cost-effective solutions using physical flow models and computer simulations.
