Verdantas supported the PG&E Birds Landing Project, which involved the design and validation of two river crossing towers exceeding 550 feet in height—among the tallest transmission lattice structures in the United States. Located across the Sacramento River between Sacramento and Solano County, the project required elevating the transmission crossing to 161 feet above mean sea level to meet U.S. Army Corps of Engineers safety standards. Verdantas conducted comprehensive load analyses incorporating wind, seismic, and structural weight factors, developed detailed design criteria and structural calculations for critical connections, and reviewed fabrication drawings to ensure structural integrity throughout the project.
The team also managed rigorous tower testing at the Larsen & Toubro facility, including incremental load testing from 50% to 100% of design capacity under various environmental conditions, as well as destruction testing at 120% of maximum load to validate ultimate capacity. Verdantas delivered comprehensive documentation, including design drawings, inspection and test reports, proof-of-fit verification, and a final engineering report, while supporting construction activities and meeting key project milestones, with design completed in six months and testing completed over three months
