Coal Creek Utility District constructed a new, covered vactor waste decant facility at the existing 580 Zone Tank site to improve waste management and environmental protection. This facility replaces uncovered stockpile bays and provides a controlled environment for handling excavated soil materials from vactor operations. Key features of the facility include:
- A reinforced concrete decant bay with a pre-manufactured metal roof for efficient separation and drying of solids.
- A buried oil-water separator vault for additional water clarification before discharge to the sanitary sewer.
- A new sewer conveyance system extending 300 feet to an existing manhole for proper wastewater disposal.
This facility enhances operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Future evaluations will determine whether it will also be used for disposing of vactor materials containing sewage.
