Verdantas provided geotechnical engineering and construction quality assurance (CQA) services for the expansion of UV disinfection and advanced water treatment facilities at the Valencia Water Reclamation Plant in Los Angeles County, California. Our role focused on developing a clear understanding of subsurface conditions and supporting both design and construction of critical treatment infrastructure.
The team conducted subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, and geotechnical analysis to characterize soil conditions and evaluate key risks such as liquefaction and seismic response. These efforts informed practical recommendations for site preparation, foundations, retaining systems, and below-grade structures, which were documented in a comprehensive geotechnical investigation report and carried through design coordination.
During construction, Verdantas provided CQA monitoring and testing to verify that earthwork and structural elements were installed in accordance with design requirements. This included subgrade preparation, engineered fill placement, trench backfill for pipelines, and support for ground improvement systems. The project also involved deep soil mixing, installation of ground anchors, and construction of mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls to enable site expansion and ensure slope stability.
By combining upfront geotechnical analysis with consistent construction oversight, Verdantas helped reduce risk, support constructability, and ensure long-term performance of the facility’s critical infrastructure—providing a stable foundation for reliable, advanced water treatment operations.
