Species Surveys and Assessments
At Verdantas, we offer comprehensive assessments of endangered, threatened, and protected species to support both conservation and responsible development. Our ecologists and biologists conduct habitat evaluations and endangered and threatened species surveys--delivering critical data to guide planning and conservation strategies.
We specialize in acoustic surveys which detect and monitor visually elusive species, such as the Indiana bat, Northern long-eared bat and Florida bonneted bat, and use aerial drone technology to offer a bird's-eye view of habitats and nests that are large or otherwise inaccessible. In marine environments, our essential fish habitat assessments and seagrass/submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) surveys help ensure the protection of and sustainable management of these critical habitats.
Species Permitting and Relocation
Our team navigates complex regulatory landscapes to deliver comprehensive species permitting and relocation services that meet federal and state regulations and promote conservation efforts. We support Endangered Species Act (ESA) Section 7 and Section 10 consultations, develop Habitat Conservation Plans (HCP), and manage Incidental Take Permitting (ITP), helping clients navigate the complexities of obtaining permits for activities that may incidentally harm protected species. We have developed a risk model to support Avian Protection Plans (APP) aimed at reducing risks and minimizing mortality to avian species. We can offer relocation services for species such as bald eagles and gopher tortoises in support of ethical and effective wildlife protection and preservation.
Research and Monitoring Efforts
Verdantas offers specialized research and monitoring services to support conservation efforts and ensure regulatory compliance. Our master bird banders can provide valuable data on bird migration patterns, population dynamics, and survival rates, which are essential for developing effective conservation strategies. We can monitor the health and genetic diversity of avian populations providing critical insights for species management and recovery, and conduct genetic rescue efforts to address inbreeding and genetic bottlenecks ensuring their long-term survival.
We also conduct species dispersal studies and translocation projects--carefully relocating species to suitable habitats to restore populations and enhance genetic diversity.
